Kamax Open Challenge 1:
KAMAX Tools & Equipment created a fully automated end-to-end process for the production of forming tools, using artificial intelligence to control the multiplicity of variants. The occurrence of unknown irregularities remains a challenge for the live operation of automated processes.
Currently, data can be collected from all systems that are involved in the process to help improve future error handling. The challenge: Collect “fruitful data”, meaning that the data is machine readable and well structured. Then use the data to create an AI-based error handling system, which outputs recommendations for action or if possible autonomously intervenes in the production process.
KAMAX Open Challenge 2:
The KAMAX Group produces fasteners on cold-heading machines for the automotive industry. To produce these fasteners and their different shapes, a series of tools (moulds) are set-up on the machines. However, these tools are prone to breakage during the serial production, which can lead to the machine producing faulty parts or breaking. KAMAX has already equipped machines with sensors measuring the force of each strike, but this data is neither stored in any database nor is it used to predict sudden failures.
The challenge is to develop a predictive model via a predictive algorithm that avoids tool breakage on these cold-heading machines by giving the operators a warning signal to react accordingly, stop the machine, and replace the tools.
AVL Open Challenge:
AVL is the world's largest independent company for the development, simulation and testing of powertrain systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, construction, large engines and their integration into the vehicle. AVL provides complete and integrated development environments, measurement and test systems as well as state-of-the-art simulation methods.
Currently, hydrogen is one of the most promising fuels for future mobility solutions. It can be produced very environment-friendly and creates no emissions when converted to propulsion energy. The most important hydrogen storage methods include physical storage methods. In addition, a large number of other new hydrogen storage technologies are being pursued or investigated. The aim of the AVL Open Challenge is to provide the best suitable storage methods to be used in mobile and non-stationary applications, where weight, size and cost are limiting factors.
