Dr. Werner Schnappauf is CEO and Founder of Schnappauf Consulting. Among his clients is Bank of America, to which he is senior advisor. He is also lawyer at GvW Graf von Westphalen, Berlin. Chancellor Merkel appointed Schnappauf as a member of the German Council for Sustainable Development in 2016. Since 2020, he is also Chair of the Council.
Dr Schnappauf has a unique expertise as he has worked in both politics and industry, serving as State Minister for Environmental Protection in Bavaria and as a member of the Federal Assembly as well as CEO and member of the presidium of the German Industry Federation (BDI). He has a decades-long focus on economy and ecology: during his term as state minister, he was also in charge for clean air protection. He was member of the Supervisory Board of Allianz Deutschland and is member of the Board of Trustees for both the Allianz Environment Foundation (Umweltstiftung) and the University of Munich’s ifo Institute. At Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, he is Chairman of the Circle on Energy Law and Policy.
