Cristina Lumbreras served between 2001 and 2010 as IT manager of Madrid’s 112 emergency centre, a widely recognised emergency control room. She designed the IT components of the coordination centre, including the provision of caller-location information and the access for people with disabilities. Meanwhile, Cristina was involved in several EU standardisation activities related to emergency access and eCall. She was a member of the Spanish delegation in the Public Safety Answering Points’ group of the European Commission. She is recognised as a European expert for emergency services technical and operations issues.
As Technical Director, Cristina coordinates the activities of EENA Technical and Operations Committee that gathers emergency services and industry representatives to define performance indicators, requirements and quality standards pertaining to emergency services. This Committee is also dedicated to ensuring the transition to Next Generation 112, a reliable IP-based emergency communications system.
She develops EENA’s certification programmes for emergency services and the industry. She represents EENA in international standardization. She is the current chair of the ETSI-EMTEL committee, in charge of the creation of standards on emergency communications.
