At your service: Take a comfortable ride from A to B in a autonomous shuttle bus across the grounds of the IAA and discover the mobility of tomorrow in all its dimensions.
More and more “people movers” are conquering European cities. They are minibuses, usually battery-powered, which transport a group of people… but there’s one thing they don’t have – a driver behind a steering wheel. You now have the chance to experience for yourself a technology that has so far been presented at other mobility trade shows only in the form of concept studies, or has not yet gone into operation in your area. An autonomous shuttle bus will operate on a 400 meter route during IAA.
Continental’s self-driving “CUbE” can carry up to six people and has a top speed of 20 kilometers per hour. CUbE stands for “Continental Urban mobility Experience.” A range of sensorssuch as cameras, radar and laser systems detect obstacles and make the electrically powered minibus apply the brakes if necessary. The vehicle uses external display technology to communicate with pedestrians and gives way to any pedestrians crossing the carriageway.
