The IAA 2021 will take place from September 7 to 12.

From September 7 to 12, 2021, the IAA will take place in Munich for the first time in a completely new form. In addition to exhibition halls, the city center will also open up to the mobility of the future. The Bavarian capital will also host the IAA in 2023.

In view of the positive developments in the area of corona vaccinations as well as the prognoses regarding a significantly flattening infection rate in the summer months, the IAA MOBILITY 2021 will take place as a physical event with digital extension (hybrid format) and with the integration of a hygiene strategy. The VDA and Messe München are in constant contact with academia, business and policy-makers. Taking into account these assessments, the summer months from June to September 2021 are considered the best time for events.

We always keep an eye on the development of the COVID 19 pandemic. The new concept offers various possibilities for reacting to it with suitable hygiene strategies, should this be necessary. The exhibition area at the Summit can be designed relatively flexibly to allow for larger distances. The Open Space is outdoors, which also allows for different hygiene strategies. Together with Messe München, which is currently adapting hygiene strategies and developing them for the events that will start again soon, we are following the current developments.

With the Open Space, exclusive spaces close to the city center become the stage for urban productions, new formats and unique experiences! Beyond the exhibition halls, the latest and most efficient vehicles as well as innovative concepts will be on display. In addition, we will make it possible to experience the mobility solutions presented directly on site. Visitors can test everything from cars and e-scooters to e-bikes on site.

An integral part of the new IAA MOBILITY concept is the Blue Lane - a multi-modal transfer axis between the two venues. It has three sections: road, public transport & micromobility. The Blue Lane will not be a pure transfer axis, but will be designated as a priority lane to enable test drives. It is currently planned as a route on which transfer vehicles as well as demo vehicles and use cases will shuttle visitors between the Summit and the Open Space, making the future tangible. Vehicles can also leave the Blue Lane for individual test drives.

The Summit forms the core of the IAA MOBILITY. Under the slogan "Mobility meets Professionals" we offer visitors many formats such as press conferences, stage presentations and networking elements. The Summit is the perfect opportunity to follow current expert debates on mobility and to make contacts.

During the IAA MOBILITY, the IAA Conference is the focus of international attention from the press, industry and the general public. High-ranking guests from industry, politics and society such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg and Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg will exchange views and discuss the future of international mobility from different perspectives. The IAA Conference is thus the perfect stage for innovation and inspiration from all areas of the mobility industry and offers our B2B and trade audience informative and participative conference formats.

The Open Space Extended is the extended Open Space on the Munich exhibition grounds. Trade visitors with a Summit + Conference ticket and end consumers with an IAA Experience ticket have access to the four subject areas of bikes, sports cars, motorsport and classic cars. The Open Space Extended extends over Halls B4, B5 and B6 and the spacious outdoor area, the IAA Experience. Admission is via the East Entrance, and from September 10 at 14.00 h also via the West Entrance.
