Getting there by train

Getting to the exhibition grounds from Munich Central Station


If arriving by train, visitors will arrive at Munich Central Station. From there, the U2 subway line runs every 5 minutes within 20 minutes in the direction of the exhibition grounds. The stations are Messestadt West and Messestadt Ost.

Getting to Open Space from Munich Central Station 


From Munich Central Station, all visitors arriving by train can reach the Open Space locations in the city center quickly and comfortably within 10 minutes by public transport. The locations Königsplatz, Wittelsbacher Platz, Odeonsplatz, Max-Joseph-Platz and Marstallplatz can be reached on foot from the main station in 20 minutes.

Getting fairgrounds there by public transport

The exhibition grounds are located on the U2 underground line. The Summit (B2B) can be reached via the Messestadt West underground station and the Open Space Extended (B2C) via Messestadt Ost. Local public transport in the city (zone M-6) on the day of your visit is included in your IAA MOBILITY ticket.

The U2 underground line in the direction of Messestadt Ost runs a direct service to Messe München Monday to Friday between 06:00 and 20:00 h every 5 minutes. From the city center of Munich, the Summit and the Open Space Extended are easy to reach in approx. 25 minutes by public transport. To the journey planner of Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund (MVV).

Getting to the fairgrounds by car

The Summit and Open Space Extended at the exhibition grounds can be reached via the A94 Autobahn. Sign-posts will guide you to the appropriate parking areas even before you leave the Autobahn at the München-Riem exit.

A dynamic traffic control system regulates traffic to the exhibition grounds, directing you to the nearest available parking slot.

We will publish detailed information on the open entrances and parking areas for the IAA 2021 shortly. During tradeshows, access in front of the entrances is restricted.

Parking will be available from two hours prior to the Summit and the Open Space Extended opening hours and will close two hours after the events end.

Easy and convenient recharging: Messe München's e-charging concept includes 80 fixed charging stations in the multi-storey parking lot West and additional mobile charging stations in the outdoor area, as well as a Supercharger (fast charging station).

As a rule, overnight stays on the exhibition grounds are not permitted. You can find possible mobile home parking spaces here.

 

Directions fairgrounds from the airport

Messe München is located 42 kilometers south of Munich Airport. The Summit and Open Space Extended at the exhibition grounds are easily accessible from the airport by public transport, shuttle busses and taxis.

The S-Bahn lines S1 and S8 take travellers to Munich Central Station every 10 minutes in about 40 minutes. From there, the underground line 2 continues towards the exhibition grounds every 5 minutes. The journey from Munich Central Station by underground takes approx. 25 minutes.

Another option is the direct non-stop connection with shuttle buses. This shuttle bus service runs every 20 minutes from 05.09. - 12.09. between Munich Airport and the exhibition grounds. The one-way journey takes approx. 45 minutes. Tickets for the airport trade fair shuttle can be booked online or on site. The shuttle bus stops at the airport are located directly in front of Terminal 1, Area A and MAC (Munich Airport Center), and Terminal 2. Additional shuttle services: IAA MOBILITY 2021 is working with various partners, including Share Now, BB Mobility (formerly Babelbing) and Uber. These can be found at the West and East entrances to the building and the West multi-storey parking lot. 

The ride-sharing service BB MOBILITY is available in the north of Munich. You can book a ride from Munich Airport and surrounding hotels to the Munich Exhibition Center online. Sustainability means a lot to BB MOBILITY - that is why they use comfortable electric vehicles and put the orders together (pooling principle). This reduces emissions and traffic. The price is displayed in the order interface. Currently, reduced prices are applied- book you ride in advance and benefit from the special offer!

Getting to the Open Space by public transport

The Open Space and its locations Königsplatz, Wittelsbacher Platz, Odeonsplatz, Max-Joseph-Platz and Marstallplatz are located in Munich's city center near Munich's main train station. The Open Space is connected via all main underground, S-Bahn and tram lines. It can be reached from Munich's main station within 10 minutes by public transport or a 20 minute walk. The five locations in the Open Space are at close walking distance.

Arrival by bicycle

The formats Summit, Open Space Extended as well as the Conference can easily be accessed by bike. A signposted bike path through the districts of Trudering and Haidhausen leads visitors via “Am Messefreigelände” to the Eastern entrance. A bicycle wardrobe is located on the parking spaces 8 and can easily be accessed through Paul-Henri-Spaak-Straße, as well as through the De-Gasperi-Bogen.

In addition to that, visitors can reach the Open Space by bike too. Along the signposted bike path, visitors are able to get access to the exhibition spaces via Sparkassenstraße, Alfons-Goppel-Straße and Brienner Straße.

The bicycle parking area on the exhibition grounds at the East Entrance is free to use and opens between 8 and 19 o'clock. E-bikes can also be charged at the bicycle parking area.

Getting to the Open Space by car

Munich's city center can be reached via the following seven highways connected by a ring: Autobahn A8, A99, A9, A92; A96, A94, A95 and A995.

 

Directions to the Open Space from the airport

The Open Space in Munich's city centre can be reached from the airport either by the two S-Bahn lines S1 and S8 or an express bus. The S1 and the S8 travel to Munich Central Station from the airport every 10 minutes. The journey takes about 40 minutes. From the main station, Open Space can be reached on foot in 20 minutes or by public transport in 10 minutes. The Airport Munich Express Bus runs to the centre of Munich every 30 minutes in approx. 45 minutes.

   

Getting to and from the Open Space to the Summit via the Blue Lane route

Arrival and departure via the Blue Lane Route:

A direct connection between the exhibition grounds and the city center is the 12 km long Blue Lane route. Here you can either use the shuttle buses that have been set up, or travel the route with your own zero-emission vehicle or high-occupancy vehicle (min. three people).
