  • New Markets, Policy and Trade

Last mile delivery faces unprecedented disruption, with the rapid growth of e-commerce re-shaping the way goods reach consumers. This provides both challenges and opportunities for cities. Traditional urban freight movement as we know it will exacerbate the congestion and pollution twin-challenge. The regulatory environment is tightening to address climate change and congestion, driving stricter control over access, emissions, and curb use. Alternative modes like drones and autonomous delivery robots, as well as connected infrastructure and data management systems are emerging. However, the transition to a sustainable and equitable last-mile delivery requires multi-sectoral public and private collaboration.
